Small Modular ImmunoPharmaceutical (SMIP™) Drug Design

Trubion Pharmaceuticals’ proprietary product engine generates a novel compound class known as small modular immunopharmaceutical (SMIP™) drugs. SMIP drug candidates can be designed for optimal potency in different diseases, using validated or novel clinical targets. These biologics are single-chain polypeptides that are engineered for full binding and activity function of a monoclonal antibody (mAb). Approximately one-third to one-half the size of conventional therapeutic mAbs, SMIP drugs maintain in vivo half-life and high expression levels. The modular nature of SMIP drug candidates allows Trubion to design and quickly advance novel therapeutics for a broad range of indications, including inflammatory disease and oncology. Trubion chooses its research and development programs based on therapeutic need and commercial opportunity.

SMIP™ Drug Candidates
  • Broad therapeutic applications
  • Single-chain polypeptides
  • Significantly smaller than whole antibodies
  • Full target binding activity
  • Full effector function
  • High expression levels
  • Retain in vivo half-life
